Happy Tuesday! This past week my sister invited me to go with her and my nephew to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Of course I accepted her invitation. I met her at her house so that we could take off and venture off to Monterey. I love Monterey, it’s similar to where I live, Santa Cruz. But what I feel sets Monterey apart from Santa Cruz, is that it’s known for the abundance in marine life. Yes, you will always find sea otters and lions on the Santa Cruz coast, but Monterey is just a little bit different. After all, they do house one of the largest aquariums in North America.
It’s been a while since I had been to Monterey, a little over a year to be exact. It was about time to make a trip down the coast, plus I got to spend the day with my sister and my nephew. When we got to Monterey, we soon realized that neither of us had coins for the meters. So if you guys are planning on taking a trip to the bay, don’t forget at least three dollars worth of coins (just a tip to make your life a little bit easier). I love walking on Cannery Row, there are so many cute shops leading up to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. On our way there, we discovered a Christmas tree that was beautifully decorated. Of course we paused our walk and took some time to take photos in the festive setting. If you have not yet visited Monterey, I highly recommend it. Cannery Row is my one of my fave places to visit if I ever want to get away for a bit. It’s a very cute place full of charm and history.
I was glad I chose to wear a poncho because it kept me very warm during the cool breeze. But what I love most about this poncho is that it is reversible! It’s like I get two ponchos for the price of one. Yaaass! I wore a black turtleneck top underneath because I was going to wear jeans and I didn’t want too much going on. I wanted to keep it simple yet classy. To finish off my look I wore my black boots that I wore to death last year.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
I love marine life and everything that has to do with the ocean. I love the water, the kelp forest and absolutely adore otters. In fact, when I attended community college I considered pursing a career in Marine Biology. I find marine life to be very interesting. Whenever I get the opportunity to immerse myself with ocean related anything, I jump right in. Bringing my blog together with my experience at the aquarium proved to be a challenge. Photographing huge tanks along with glass that caused reflection was something that I have not yet dealt with on my blogging journey. That being said, I had a limited number of photos that were “blog worthy” (insert sad face emoji here).
My favorite exhibit at the aquarium was definitely the sea otters. Like I mentioned earlier I love sea otters! They remind me of puppies but with webbed paws. Wait… don’t puppies and dogs have webbed paws too? Lol. In addition, otters are smart creatures and very playful, I could watch them swim and play all day long. Again, I apologize for not having a photograph of the cute little guys. However, I was able to post a video on my Instagram stories of some otters, so if you are not following me on Instagram, I suggest you begin following me soon, that way you stay up to date with my everyday life.
Hope you all have an amazing week!
